State Court
The State Court has jurisdiction over misdemeanor offenses, including traffic violations. Misdemeanors are any crimes punishable by up to one year in jail and a $1000.00 fine. They should be taken as seriously as felonies. Children under the age of 17 accused of misdemeanors are generally prosecuted in Juvenile Court. Misdemeanors are prosecuted by the Solicitor General’s Office.
